. Millennium Lodge
No. 743 The Closing Ceremonies - A feature article.
The Millennium year is special. Our events during this year will reflect this. Our ritual suggests that Masonry has existed since antiquity and these ages can be measured. But two phrases in the rite of installation are worthy of consideration---"until time shall be no more" and "pure and unimpaired, from generation to generation". A lodge that meets once a millennium acknowledges and appreciates timelessness. The only functions of Millennium Lodge U.D. are the acceptance of associate members for the following 364 days, turning over all funds to the Masonic Foundation for the Millennium Project, and entrusting the charter to Grand Lodge for safe keeping until the lodge convenes under new officers in the year 3000. The charter is not surrendered since the lodge is awaiting its next regular meeting. When the lodge closes it will be until "the call of the Grand Master in 3000 under officers designated by him at that time to rekindle the lights, of which all brethren in the jurisdiction shall have due notice." The lodge will meet once and then closes for another ten centuries. MILLENNIUM LODGE U.D. met on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in the Canadian Room of the Royal York Hotel, at 2:00 p.m. This meeting marked the conclusion of the Help-2-Hear project. The Millennium Lodge was also put to rest at this meeting until the year 3000, when it's charter will be reactivated. Why be a Part Of the Millennium Lodge U.D.? - F.A.Q. Here.
